#1 Cracks Under Pressure

Coming off the back of his 2011 Nationals win, #1 Derek Bromlewe was eager to carve his place into history with a Zamels plate win. An unfortunate touch with the rear wheel of Peter Dyball left him with a bent steering arm and a DNF for race 1.
Race 2 saw Derek produce some of the fastest 1200 lap times of the day. Working his way up to second
place from a 5th row start Derek had his eye on the back
of Rod Lisson's Number 71 in 1st. He could smell victory and just needed that extra 0.5 of a second to take it.
Perhaps a wide run into turn 1 would make all the
difference through the Esses and allow a pass after
Kolb.
A solid theory turned into a wild run on the marbles as Bromlewe lost his battle to keep the #1 Elfin Crusader on the racing surface.
A stunning performance in the Final saw Derek storm through the field to take 3rd after starting on the second last row of the Grid. #1 will prove a force to be reckoned with in the 2012 Season.
